February 5, 2022                                  IMPACTED  AND  MOTIVATED  BY  THE  FUTURE
1Peter 1:3-6 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
If we can believe, if we can see with our spiritual eyes what is in store for us who trust Jesus as our Savior, our life here on earth will never be the same. Knowing what our future holds should be the major motivating force in our life. Peter Parris made an awesome statement when he said: “Let us be more affected by our future than by our past.” We now live in a world system that rejects any idea of there being a God; but we are no longer of this word, even though we live in it. We have “been born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus.”  Before we accepted Christ as our Savior, we were spiritually dead-the new us did not exist!  When we accept Jesus as Savior, we believe that our sins are forgiven and we believe we are going to heaven when we die; but there is so much more included in our salvation. We know salvation now, but when we see Jesus, we will marvel at just how fantastic our salvation really is. Certainly, our being born again has a major impact on our earthly life, but what is in store for us in the future is even greater. Do we know and can we believe that God has an inheritance waiting for us in heaven? This inheritance is imperishable and will not fade away! As we begin to believe and focus on what God has in store for us, we will ‘greatly rejoice,’ just as the early believers did. “Even though we may be ‘distressed by various trials,” our inheritance is sure. In the meantime, we are being protected by the power of God; God is watching over those who have an inheritance in heaven-not one of His loved ones will miss out on this inheritance. Because of our great salvation and the sure promises of God, we have a ‘living hope’ that does abate nor die. There is a great day coming for those who trust Jesus as Savior-a day beyond our wildest imagination! We are here on earth only ‘for a little while;’ while here, let us live with our inheritance in view, knowing that God is watching over us and we are being kept that we might soon receive our great inheritance. This great salvation not only has an inheritance reserved for us in heaven, it also has blessings for us here in this present life; we are now the sons and daughters of God and His Holy Spirit lives in us, equipping and empowering us to live as overcomers in life.
Ephesians 1:13-14  “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.”

OUR  FATHER

February 3, 2022                                      OUR  FATHER
John 1:12-13 “But as many as received Him, He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
1 John 3:1 “See what kind of love the Father has given to us that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.”
If there is any truth that should comfort us and bless us and impact our lives in amazing ways, it is that God is our Father-He really is. We are not ‘accidents,’ or the result of a man and a woman deciding to have a baby. The amazing thing is that God knew us eons before we were born physically; in Ephesians 1:4 we read “Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.” Someone has said that we have God’s DNA. The first two words of the Lord’s Prayer are “Our Father.” Most believers would agree that God is our Father, yet that truth may not have penetrated their spirit; it may be just mental agreement. Personally, I believed, in my mind, for many years that God was my Father, but on one particular night, as I looked up to a star filled sky, I heard in my spirit in a very unmistakable way, God say  “The God who made those stars is your Father.” In one minute, everything changed. My immediate thoughts were; since the God that created the universe is my Father, what do I have to fear, or what do I have to worry about? Even when I go through difficult times, He is my Father and I can have a total and everlasting trust in Him. Our Father-our real Father-loves us and He has all wisdom and all power and He is ruling over all. He will talk to us, guide us, comfort us, and equip us to live as His sons and daughters, even in a world that does not know Him. Again, knowing in our innermost being that the Creator God is our Father impacts our lives in a major way; as our Father, He cares for us, teaches us, provides for us, disciplines us when needed because He loves us, and He enjoys our relationship. The important thing for us to know and understand is that having God as our Father does not mean that we will not face trials in this life; our all-knowing Father will allow and will use the difficulties in life in the process of transforming us in to His image. We still live in a fallen world where we on a daily basis see the results of sin; yet we have been transferred to the Kingdom of God and can live as His children, knowing that we are destined to live with Him, in His presence, for eternity. If you are like I was, believing in my mind that God was my Father but not really knowing that in the deepest part of my being, ask God to reveal to you in your spirit that He is YOUR Father. God knew us before we were born; He sent His Son to redeem us and to restore us back to Himself. We are now moving to that day when our redemption will be complete-He is coming again to gather us to Himself for all eternity.
Matthew 6:25-26, 33-34 “For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, not gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?”       “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do  not be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

SUPRESING  THE  TRUTH

February 1, 2022                                        SUPPRESSING  THE  TRUTH
Romans 1:18-21 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”
It is helpful for us to understand why things are as they are. In just a casual glance, one can see that the world is full of discord, strife, wars, wickedness in high (and low) places, catastrophes, famine, disease, poverty-and the list goes on and on. The scriptures above tell us much about why things are as they are in the world. Contrary to the opinions of many, the ills of this world can be traced to one primary reason, and that is that men suppress the truth. God, since creation, has revealed Himself and made Himself known; if one does not suppress the truth, He can see God through the creation. There is something in man that resist the idea of God; if he admits that God is who He says He is, then he is accountable to Him. Man wants to be his own god. We don’t like to talk about the wrath of God; we prefer to talk about the love of God; but we are told above that the “wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth….”  Let’s face the facts; we are witnessing the wrath of God that is being poured out on ungodliness and unrighteousness in the world. The tragedy is that when men continue to suppress the truth, even though they know God is real, and they do not honor God, they become futile in their thinking and their heart becomes darkened. Romans 1:28-29 tells us “And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do the things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice;’ (See verses 30-32) So-that’s the world. What about us as believers? We must not neglect the call to live righteously and godly in this present world; as believers, we will be held accountable for the life we live. Rather than suppressing the truth of the gospel, let us fully embrace the truth and live in such a way that our life is an expressions of the gospel. We are to let our light shine in the midst of the darkness.
Romans 12:1-2 “I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Blessings,
Buddy
