2 Corinthians 3:15-18 “But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; but whenever a man turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”
Unless a person turns to the Lord, it is impossible for him or her to understand the things of the Lord. We should not be surprised when non-believers question or even reject the message of the gospel, and may even reject us because they have a veil over their hearts. It is amazing how turning to the Lord brings understanding. For today, let us focus on the part about being transformed. As a starter, is your life, my life, different compared to last month or last year? If not, we are missing something and falling short on our spiritual journey-that is not to condemn us, but to be a spiritual wake-up call for us. It is God’s heart and God’s plan to transform every believer into His own image; and we have a part to play in the process-but He is the one that does the transforming; we cannot transform ourselves into His image. The mystery is that as we ‘behold’ Him, we are being transforming. Beholding Him implies that we are looking deeply at who the Lord is and we are meditating and giving thought to the greatness and wonder of God; we also behold Him as we read and study His word to learn about Him. As we discover the love that God has for us and as we come to realize what great things He has done on our behalf, and that we are His sons and daughters, it becomes natural to want to be like Him. A major part of the process of being transformed into His image is discovering that it is no longer we who live, but Christ lives in us; we have died to ourselves and now we live by the Holy Spirit. Galatians 2:20. We are all born as natural beings, but in Christ, we live super-natural lives. For example; in the natural, our focus is on meeting our needs and getting what we want; in the super-natural kingdom of God, our focus is on serving and blessing and trusting God to supply our needs. Only by experiencing the life of God in us are the longings of our hearts satisfied. Let us work with God as He is about transforming us into His image; and let it be our deepest desire to walk in his ways.
Ephesians 5:1-2 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
