October 6, 2023 A SHIFT IN MINDSET
From Psalms 96: “Sing to the Lord all the earth.” “Tell of His glory among the nations,; “For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;” “Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength, ascribe to the Lord the glory of His name.” “Tremble before HIm all the earth.” “Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved; He will judge the people with equity.” “Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; Let the sea roar, and all it contains; let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the Lord, for He is coming; for He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in HIs faithfulness.” Psalms 97:1 “The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice;”
It’s easy to get sour on what’s taking place in the world. I do not need to name what all is amiss in the world; if you focus on what all is wrong, surely you will become depressed-if not depressed, then at least discouraged. We need to remember that nothing or no one can set aside the rule of God; He is sovereign, all powerful and He is the creator and sustainer of the universe. I fear to some degree that we lave lost the sense and awareness that HE is GOD and He has absolute rule-He is the ultimate big boss of everything! There is a healthy way that we should ‘tremble before Him. “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:13. The best news ever for us is that this awesome, all powerful God loves us and He cares for us. Sure, there is a lot of bad stuff going on all around us and evil seems to be having a heyday in the world; hope is in short supply; and we see no cure for all that is wrong. But God is not worried or pacing the floor-He is ruling; He is working out His pan. For us, let us rejoice in the fact that our God reigns and that His plans never fail. Let us get our focus off of what is wrong; let’s talk about that God is in full control; that the earth belongs to the Lord; let us speak of His glory; let the earth rejoice and all the trees sing for joy. One fact remains unchangeable-HE IS COMING TO JUDGE THE WORLD IN RIGHTEOUSNESS-HE IS COMING TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT! For those who know Him and for those He knows, it will be a glorious day. There has always been problems in this world-we are no exception to living in troubled times. Let us be about declaring His greatness and ascribing to Him strength and glory in spite of what we see in the natural. Let us rejoice.
1 Chronicles 29:11-12 “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.”
