Hebrews 4:14-16 “Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and may fine help in time of need.”
Jesus willingly left heaven, came to earth, lived fully man, suffered and died on a cross that our sins might be forgiven and that we might be saved. Jesus knew suffering more than we will ever know; what sufferings He endured on earth He did so because He loved us. He lived a sinless life and was raised from the dead and now He is our high priest, seated at the right hand of the Father. The greatest concept, the greatest truth and the greatest belief we can ever get into our spirit, into the deepest part of our being, is that God loves you and I. He could have refused to come and die for us, but He did not refuse. The life He lived on earth, He lived as a man; He knows what it was like to live in flesh and blood, He knew the tough road of living in the flesh as a human. The verse above tells us that Jesus ‘was tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus, our hight priest, sympathizes with our weaknesses; when we stumble, when we fall, He does not chasten us or rebuke us; instead He forgives us and draws us back to Himself. As our high priest, He also intercedes to the Father on our behalf; what better priest could we have-one who is seated next to the Father! When we fall, when we have questions, when we do not understand, when we are fearful, when we are discouraged, let us draw near with confidence to our high priest that we might find help. The throne of grace is open to all 24/7. Even in the most difficult times and circumstances, let us never hesitate to run to Jesus, our high priest; when we do, we will find that He welcomes us and He gives us help.
Hebrews 10:22 “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.” (The blood of Jesus has cleansed us and now we are able to go to Him.)
