September 30, 2021 LIVING IN THE LIGHT
Ephesians 5:8 “for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.”
Romans 13:12 “The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
1 John 1:7 “But if you are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.”
Even though we live in a dark world where evil abounds, we can live in the light. Not only can we live, or walk in the light, we are light. Ephesians 5:8. We have a mandate from the Lord to let our shine: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under a peck-measure, but on a lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Mathew 5:14-16. There are regrets for the things done as a result of living in the darkness; but no regrets for the things done as a result of living in the light. When we live according to the ways of God and according to our true identity in Him, we enjoy a peace of mind and spirit. It is quite simple-just be the person God calls us to be and do the things that are pleasing to Him. The truth that we must know is that we have the power to make choices; we choose our thoughts and we choose our actions. When I am wronged or someone does something that aggravates me, I have a choice to make; either stay aggravated, repay evil with evil, or take on the attitude that Jesus would have in that situation. Walking in the light is taking the ‘high road;’ it is responding to the circumstances and the ‘happenings’ in life out of the new heart and the new mind that God has given us. Our words and our actions can be and should be light; we can be the conduit that God uses to bring life, hope, blessings, wisdom, and peace to those who are hurting, to those who have lost their way, and to those who are discouraged. Let our light not be dim, but let the light of God shine brightly through the life we live.
Colossians 1:13-14 “For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
John 8:1 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
