1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 “..may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all men, just as we also do for you; so that He may establish your hearts unblamable as to holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.”
Without realizing it, we so easily live our lives in the routine, on a plateau so to speak. The call in these verses is to be increasing and abounding in our love for one another. Do not be satisfied with the level of love we have had in the past nor of the level of love we have today. Love can and should grow. We know that God is love and His love is infinite. God has “shed His love abroad in our hearts” and now we can share that love with others. Not only should our love be increasing for our family and friends, but it should be increasing for all men. That may be a stretch, but remember that we are not limited to human love, but our resource of love comes from God and God loves even the unlovely-and so can we. If our love is increasing, then we will be “unblamable in holiness” when Jesus comes again. Perhaps it would be good to read I Corinthians 13 and be reminded of what God’s love looks like in action. We live in a day where for the most part, many are living to please themselves. If there has ever been a time when God’s love needs to be demonstrated, it is today. So, lets us make sure our love increases and abounds-even when others may be un-lovely. By doing so, we will be pleasing our Father. Jesus demonstrated love when He died for the unlovely. God has equipped us to express His love---go do it today!
