May 20, 2022 MADE ADEQUATE
2 Corinthians 3:5-6 “Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
If a man believes that he is adequate in himself, he becomes prideful; some may feel that to consider yourself as humble and meek, you must consider yourself inadequate. Today, it seems that many believers struggle with knowing that God has made them adequate for whatever they face. In God’s word we find truth; we discover who He is and we discover who we are. God created us and knows us better than we know ourselves and He knows every intricate detail about every part of our makeup-how we function as human beings. God also knows that when sin entered the world, man was alienated from Him and thus unable to experience life as He designed. The good news is that through the sacrifice of His Son, those who believe in Him have been restored to God and made complete; and in this restoration, God made us adequate; no longer do we have to live in doubt, fear, confusion, or feeling incomplete or inadequate. We are God’s workmanship-and He is the best builder! God has equipped us for life-for every good work. We have access to the wisdom of God; the Holy Spirit lives in us to equip us and guide us; we have been forgiven of all sin; we have the word of God through which we get to know Him; and we have been made new creations with new minds, new spirits, and new natures. We can be confident in life, not because of our own doing, but because we are now a part of the kingdom of God and God is our Father. We are now complete in Christ, but it is essential to continue reading and studying His word and to be continually choosing to die to ourselves and to live according to the Spirit. We face challenges in this life, so it is necessary for us to be renewing our mind daily and to set our minds on the things of God. Let us remember that we are His workmanship and that we have been made adequate for life and for all we encounter as we live life.
1 Peter 1:3 “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.”
Ephesians 2:20-21 “Now to Him who is able to do for more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
