Last night I sensed in my spirit that the Lord was telling me to list some of the verses that assure us that He indeed leads and guides us as we walk with Him day by day. We may feel at times that all of our decisions are solely up to us and that we have to depend on our own wisdom. However, God has not left us alone where we just figure things out on our own; He has given us His Holy Spirit, and one work of the Holy Spirit is that of guiding us and giving direction. The Holy Spirit may use many ways to speak to us as He gives direction, but if we are attentive to Him, we will hear Him. The Holy Spirit speaks to us in specific ways as well as speaking to us through God’s word. Be blessed, and realize that the following verses are for you and I-God has not left us alone. Some of the verses are examples of how the Spirit gave direction to some of the early believers.
Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Isaiah 30:21 “You will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way. Follow it, whether it turns to the right or to the left.’”
John 16:13 “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come.”
Acts 8:29 “And the Spirit said to Phillip, ‘Go over and join this chariot.’”
Ezekiel 36:27 “And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statues and be careful to obey My rules.”
Psalm 143:10b “Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.”
John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
Romans 8:14 “For who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
Proverbs 4:11 “I am teaching you the way of wisdom; I am guiding you on straight paths.”
If you are a believer, you have the Holy Spirit of God living in you. Let each of us realize that we desperately need the guidance of the Holy Spirit and let us be sensitive to His voice; may we not quench the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. God does not force us to walk by the Spirit-that is our choice. As we turn our hearts and minds to the work of the Spirit in us, we will begin to recognize His leading in ever increasing ways. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He did not abandon us; Jesus promised that the Father would send us the Holy Spirit to live in each one of us.
Blessings,
