John 15:15b “I have called you friends, for everything I learned from My Father I have made known to you.”
Hebrews 2:11 “For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren.”
Ephesians 1:5 “He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will.
2 Corinthians 6:18 “And, ‘I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, say the Lord Almighty.’”
Because our view of God largely affects how we live our life, it is critically important that our view and our understanding of God be in agreement with who God says He is in His word. Many see God as a distant God that is looking down over His creation-and in one sense that is correct. However, if that is our only view of God, we have missed the most important message found in the scriptures. We cannot fully comprehend it, but God, the creator, the Almighty, has chosen to be personal with those who have trusted Him as Savior. It is obvious from scripture that God desires a family and that He enjoys having fellowship with those who have come to know Him as Father. God took the initiative in reconciling man to Himself in order that fellowship between God and man could be restored. We may sometime lose sight of the fact that God IS love and all He does in the life of the believer is based on love. Even when He disciplines us, it is because He loves us. It is awesome to know that He has actually poured out His love into our hearts! Romans 5:5. Our relationship with God takes us beyond the natural and places us in the realm of the super-natural. Ephesians 2:6 tells us that “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. (That’s a subject for another blog.) Now, we have a loving Father whose love will never fail us, who is continually drawing us to Himself and transforming us into His image. If we truly know God, we want to do the things that please Him, but our relationship is not based on our performance-it is based on God’s love for us and our love for Him. If you have a mental agreement that God loves you but have not experienced His love in a personal way, ask God to begin to reveal to you His love for you and continue to seek Him-He will in His own way, reveal how much He loves you.
John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name”
