July 23, 2025 RIVERS OF LIVING WATER
John 7:38 “The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.”
John 4:14 “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
I am sure that every person likes the idea of living waters flowing from his/her being. Not just water, but living water. A basic tenet of the Christian faith is that Jesus came that we might have life-life as He designed it. Sin has blinded those who do not know God; they cannot experience the life that Jesus gives. In spite of the fact that we live in a fallen world where there is brokenness, strife, wars, godliness, pride-and you name it-we are blessed to have the rivers of living water welling up in us, flowing from our innermost being. The good news is that this living water flows regardless of our circumstances. Believing in Jesus is the key to experiencing rivers of living water flowing from within. Sure, we face difficulties and trials, but this flow of living water cannot be plugged! We drink of the water He offers when we believe and embrace all that He says. We have as a constant presence the Spirit of God living in us, always pointing us to the life and the ways of God. We must know that we can live above the ways of the world; we are not subject to the darkness. Our view of life, our mindset, our responses are to be anchored to the ways of God-and we learn of His ways in the Scriptures. We can believe what our emotions tell us, what the world tells us, or we can believe in Jesus and all that He says in His word. Truly, it is only God that gives abundant life, and He has revealed Himself and has revealed truth to us. “He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10.
Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
