November 5, 2022 THE NECESSITY OF SEEKING
Jeremiah 29:13 “And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.”
Luke 11:9=10 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who ask receives; the one who seek finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Proverbs 8:17 “I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me.
We live in a culture where we want things instantly, or at least very soon; we do not like to wait. I even find myself getting impatient when it takes my laptop two or three minutes to warm up! Jesus made it clear that seeking Him is vital if we are to find Him and experience Him. Jesus also made it clear that we cannot casually seek Him if we are to find Him; we must seek Him first and with all our hearts. Seeking Him first has the idea of putting our focus and attention on Him as a way of life; not just on certain occasions such as attending a church service or having a morning devotion. During the day, we are to seek His direction and guidance; thank Him for what He is doing; worship Him; and obey His word. Seeking Him is a matter of the heart; if it is our heart to know Him, we will seek Him. This subject of seeking Him forces us to examine our hearts and to ask ourselves tough questions; what are my passions in life; and where is my attention focused. The questions are not to condemn us, but to help us do a healthy evaluation of our life and to make seeking Him first a reality. Seeking also implies that it is on-going; as we seek, we find. If we are looking for a treasure of some sort, we keep looking. The good news is the God is always drawing us to Himself; God wants to be found; as the verse above tells us, He loves those who love Him. We must not let our love for God grow cold or even luke-warm; let us nurture our love for God and also grow in the knowledge of Him. I cannot explain it, but as we obey the teachings and commandments of God’s word, our understanding of Him and our knowledge of Him increases-and our love for Him increases. Simply said, He rewards those who seek Him with all of their heart.
Psalm 119:2 “Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with their whole heart,”
Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exist and that He rewards those who seek Him.”

PS: James 4:3 tells us that our motives bust be right in what we ask for.
