3 John 2-4 “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as you soul prospers. For I was very glad when brethren came and bore witness to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth. I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.”
To walk in the truth does not just happen. In fact, the whole world system is built on lies and misinformation. There is ample evidence to see the fruit of not walking in the truth. For example, one common lie that the culture buys into is that materialism-getting more, bigger and better-will make us happy. That is simply not true. Or, if one gets that promotion at the work place, they will at last be content-again, not true. The big lie is that man thinks that if he or she gets whatever it is they want, they will then be fulfilled. (I am not saying that things are in themselves evil or wrong and neither is wanting to improve your surroundings is wrong.) The thing that brought Paul the most joy was to see others that he had ministered to walking in truth. Some believe that truth is relevant-whatever you think truth is, it’s the truth to you. However, one may may believe and be convinced that the sun rises in the west, but he is wrong. Believing that truth is left up to one’s on interpretation or preference leads to chaos and to never finding what truly satisfies and fulfills the deepest longings of the human heart. The good news is that God has revealed truth-and there is no other source of truth. Graciously, God has given us truth in written form-the bible. We no longer have to live life based on a lie; we can live in truth. We not longer have to be deceived by the lies of the enemy-Satan. So, let us vigorously embrace the truth of God’s word and build our lives on that truth. The most common lie is that man thinks that it is up to him to find that which satisfies; on the contrary, the deepest need of man is found by dying-dying to his ways and allowing God to live His life in and through us. Having a living relationship with our heavenly Father is what brings lasting fulfillment. May the truth of God’s word be the foundation on which we live our lives.
John 8:31-32 “To the Jews who had believed in Him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’”
Psalm 51:6 “Behold, You delight in truth in the inward being, and You teach me wisdom in the secret heart.”
