September 3, 2018 YOU ARE FROM GOD
1 John 4:4 “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
1 John 5:4 “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
Do we know and are we conscience of the fact that as believers, we are from God? We tend to think that we are from our earthly parents, that our physical birth was our beginning. We cannot totally comprehend it, but God knew us even before the world was created! Knowing that we are from God sheds a totally new light on our life on this earth; certainly, our ‘origin’ is of upmost importance as it is key to our identity. A second amazing and all important fact is that the Holy Spirit of God lives is us! That’s who we are-from God and temples of the Holy Spirit. Those who do not know God as Savior, are mere humans, void of the Spirit of God, living in a fallen world. A third amazing fact is that there are only two kingdoms in existence-the kingdom of God, and the kingdom of this world that is Satan’s domain. God’s kingdom is one of light while the kingdom of this world is one of darkness, and these two kingdoms clash. Even though the kingdom of Satan is one of darkness, Satan is deceptive and can even appear as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14. The system of the world promotes the false idea that man is supreme (humanism) and denies the existence of God. We find that this world system well entrenched and its influence is seen in every segment of society. And sad to say, but yet true, even in some ‘churches’ we see the influence of this world system. The all-important battle for the believer is that of overcoming the world that constantly promotes the idea that man should do whatever is right in his own eyes and whatever makes him happy. One day, this world system will be no more, but for now, we must overcome it by the Holy Spirit who lives in us. It is critical that we know that we are from God and that we have a destiny in Him, a destiny that involves us overcoming the world and ruling with Him. It is time for believers to be bold, to refuse to live according to the worlds standards. In essence, the world says to get, while in God’s kingdom, the emphasis is on giving and blessing others. God’s word is the handbook on the kingdom of God, and in it, we find our true identity and purpose, we find instructions for living, we find hope, and we discover exactly what it is that makes us complete and fulfilled. God has done all that is needed for us to be overcomers-we already are overcomers. BUT, we must make the choice to walk in His ways and be guided and empowered by His word and by His Spirit.
Revelation 2:7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the paradise of God.”
